Chevrolet Philippines gives the Trax a little makeover

Trax Premier gets new look with dark-colored exterior accents

There is no denying that the Chevrolet Trax crossover is a solid vehicle. With a turbocharged engine and compact dimensions, it fits the bill for customers looking for an agile and practical daily driver. Styling, however, hasn’t been one of the Trax’s strongest suits, especially when compared to a lot of its contemporaries. Chevrolet hopes to address that with the Trax Premier.

The Trax Premier now gets a sea of dark-colored trim starting with the matte-black decals on the car’s rear quarter panels. This simple upgrade is rather effective in extending the window line toward the back. In addition, the front and rear Chevy bowtie logos lose their usual golden sheen in exchange for a gloss-black look. And finally, the 16- and 18-inch alloy wheels for the LS and LT variants, respectively, are painted in a carbon-gray hue to round out the sporty design.

Inside, all Trax Premier trim levels come equipped with an onboard air ionizer—obviously a response to the ongoing health crisis. A built-in dashcam is also standard which owners can conveniently access via a smartphone app. The cargo area now has a washable luggage tray to keep the Trax Premier’s carpets clean and dry. While the LS gets an Android-based touchscreen, the LT has Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Under the hood is a 1.4-liter turbocharged Ecotec mill generating 140hp and 200Nm of torque. Matched with a six-speed automatic transmission, this efficient yet torquey powertrain should get the Trax Premier moving briskly at the lightest prod of the throttle. This crossover also comes with a slew of safety systems and driver aids as well. Aside from six airbags, antilock brakes, and stability control, the Trax Premier also features rollover mitigation, panic brake assist, hill-start assist, and hill-descent control, among others.

Pricing for the Trax Premier LS starts at P1,185,888, while the Trax Premier LT retails for P1,535,888. Included in the package is the Chevrolet Complete Care Program, which includes warranty coverage for up to five years (or 100,000km), access to a 24/7 customer service hotline, and a three-year membership for Chevrolet’s roadside assistance program with an option to renew on the fourth year of ownership.

And just to sweeten the deal, the Trax Premier LS can be yours with a P58,000 all-in down payment or 0% interest for up to 48 months with a 30% down payment. Meanwhile, customers can avail of the Trax Premier LT with a P38,000 all-in down payment or 0% interest for up to 48 months with a 30% down payment. This promo is valid until October 31, 2020.
