In November last year, Mitsubishi unveiled a fresh, more dynamic face for its Strada pickup (also called Triton or L200 in other countries). Last January, this face-lifted truck was officially introduced to our market. You would therefore think that the Japanese automaker might take it easy on its versatile workhorse for now and perhaps turn its marketing focus on some of its other models.
But no, the competition is cutthroat. No manufacturer can afford to drop the ball or let its guard down even for a short moment. Constant innovation is a must. And that’s why Mitsubishi has the new Triton Absolute show vehicle you see here, displayed at the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand.
As this is merely a show car, the Triton Absolute simply aims to suggest possible modifications that owners can do to their pickup. The vehicle features raised suspension (+50mm), protective body cladding, front and rear skid plates, redesigned tailgate, special lighting system, and heavy-duty off-road wheels and tires. It is, in other words, the Hulk if the regular Strada were Dr. Bruce Banner.
The intriguing question we’re now trying to answer is: This or the Navara Warrior X that Nissan presented at the 2018 Philippine International Motor Show? What do you think?
