Mercedes-Benz has found ways to make the pretty CLS even more attractive

This is still the luxury sedan that you’ll want to drive yourself

Mercedes-Benz is currently in the process of revamping its entire product lineup this year with the refreshed S-Class, the new C-Class, and the brand’s much-anticipated EV stable with cars like the EQS. Well, fans of the CLS four-door coupe will be happy to know that the model will also be receiving design and mechanical updates.

There are subtle design changes such as new bumpers, a star-studded radiator grille (for Avantgarde variants), and a special paint job dubbed Spectral Blue Metallic. AMG-Line vehicles get a comprehensive aero package and 20-inch alloy wheels. The interior theme now has more combinations, and the MBUX infotainment system is slightly refreshed (no Hyperscreen option, though).

Like the C-Class, the CLS has a wide range of engines from 2.0-liter four-cylinder mills to 3.0-liter in-line-six units in gasoline, diesel and mild-hybrid versions. Output figures start from as little as 194hp. But if bonkers performance is desired, the CLS 53 4Matic+ is the sole true AMG-bred model with 435hp and 520Nm on tap.

The CLS has always been the sportier alternative to Mercedes-Benz’s more stately offerings, and it continues to impress in the handling department thanks to its excellent suspension system. There are also additional electronic driver aids taken from the S-Class, including autonomous braking, a map-based speed limiter, self-driving capabilities up to 60km/h, and automatic parking.

Pricing for the new CLS has yet to be announced. Europe will be getting dibs on the vehicle this coming July.
