Suzuki PH is launching the 4WD Vitara AllGrip

A significant upgrade from the previous FWD version

When Suzuki Philippines launched the fourth-generation Vitara subcompact SUV in November 2017—three days after we launched this website, in fact—I had an interesting time badgering the distributor for decent product photos. I suspected that the company struggled to release “beauty shots” of the vehicle because the canned files it had then showed the AllGrip version (or the 4WD, in other words). The problem was that it was launching the front-wheel-driven option. It was a funny episode as far as I was concerned.

Well, the distributor is finally introducing the Vitara AllGrip to our market tomorrow. Yes, the Vitara in our territory will now have power on all four wheels—and hence boast AllGrip badges. And yes, the units will still come from Hungary (in case you’re wondering).

The new Vitara will be powered by the same 1.6-liter gasoline engine, mated to the same six-speed automatic transmission. And so, the major changes here are the above-mentioned four-wheel drive system and also the cosmetic makeover, which the Vitara received for its 2019 model year in other markets.

Suzuki’s AllGrip technology gives the new Vitara four driving modes: Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock. Safe to say you will never need the one for ice driving, but having the other modes should be quite useful (especially for the varying kinds of terrain we have in this country).

The new Vitara AllGrip will be offered in these exterior colors:

  • Prime Solar Yellow with Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic (two-tone)
  • Solid Bright Red with Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic (two-tone)
  • Galactic Gray Metallic (monotone)
  • Cool White Pearl (monotone)

The prices, meanwhile, are pegged at:

  • P1,468,000 (two-tone)
  • P1,458,000 (monotone)

According to our source at Suzuki Philippines, the FWD Vitara is just being sold out. Which means that buyers will now just have access to the 4WD Vitara once the current FWD inventory is no more.
