You know how we can confidently tell that the Philippine economy is doing well? By the influx of business-oriented commercial vehicles in recent months. If you’ve been reading this website, we’re sure you’ve come across the launches of the Mitsubishi L300, the Suzuki Carry, the Isuzu Traviz and the Hyundai H-100 Kapitan Kargo. Surely, these vehicle manufacturers know a thing or two about local enterprises needing to transport their personnel and products. That has to be an encouraging picture, right?
And now, you can count Kia Philippines among automotive companies offering to help entrepreneurs grow their business. The distributor has very quietly brought in the K2500 light-duty truck, which is also available in various body configurations. The version you see in these photos is the dropside pickup. Other variants include the basic cab-and-chassis, the closed van, the Kargo and the Karga.
Manufactured in South Korea, the K2500 is powered by a 2.5-liter CRDI diesel engine that produces 128hp and 255Nm. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, this motor is likely the very same one found in the H-100 Kapitan Kargo.
The basic cab-and-chassis package of Kia’s new workhorse measures 4,825mm long, 1,740mm wide and 2,105mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,415mm. The gross vehicle weight is pegged at 2,980kg.
