In May, Volkswagen Philippines formally launched five new models manufactured in China: the Santana, the Lavida, the Tiguan, the Lamando and the Santana GTS. However, only three of these models were available at launch—the last two on the list wouldn’t arrive until November.

This past weekend, the German automaker’s local distributor reminded us with a press statement that the Lamando and the Santana GTS would indeed hit showrooms in two months’ time. As a bonus, they’ll bring with them a third offering: the automatic-transmission (and more powerful) version of the Santana sedan. The announcement is particularly interesting because, this time, the importer/seller already has introductory prices for the above-mentioned vehicles:

  • Lamando 280 TSI DSG Highline – P1,703,000
  • Lamando 280 TSI DSG Comfortline – P1,569,000
  • Santana GTS 1.5 MPI AT Comfortline – P998,000
  • Santana 1.5 MPI AT Comfortline – P962,000
  • Santana 1.5 MPI AT Trendline – P898,000
The Santana GTS will only have a single trim (Comfortline) and sell for P998,000. Tempting. PHOTO FROM VOLKSWAGEN

Both the Santana AT and the Santana GTS AT are powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder MPI gasoline engine rated at 108hp and 150Nm. The Lamando, meanwhile, is equipped with a 1.4-liter four-cylinder TSI petrol motor that’s good for 148hp and 250Nm.

Here are the available colors for these three models:

Lamando 280 TSI DSG

  • Mangangrey
  • Polar White
  • Coriandolo
  • Dark Bronze
  • Misano Red

Santana GTS 1.5 MPI AT

  • Polar White
  • Toffee Brown
  • Red Rock Metallic

Santana 1.5 MPI AT

  • Deep Black
  • Polar White
  • Reflex Silver

These soon-to-arrive VW cars will be offered with a three-year/100,000km general warranty as well as a three-year warranty on both paint and steel body structure.

According to Volkswagen Philippines, the quoted prices are merely introductory and “in line with the celebration of [the company’s] fifth anniversary.” If you’re interested in making a reservation, you may visit any of the following VW dealerships: Bonifacio Global City, Quezon Avenue, Alabang, Greenfield, Pampanga, Cebu, Iloilo and Bacolod. If you’re still undecided, you have two months to make up your mind.
