The newly released regular version costs just P2,978,000

Last year, the Lexus IS sedan received a significant makeover. And that revised version officially reached our market in November. The Japanese luxury car brand made available to us a pair of iterations: the IS350 F Sport and the IS300h Premier. But let’s face it, neither one of these variants is particularly affordable. The former is priced at P3,808,000, and the latter is yours for P3,328,000.

For sure, the IS’s target buyers have resources that could easily purchase either of these sedans. But wouldn’t you prefer a cheaper option (especially in these challenging times)?

Enter the standard IS300h, which is pegged at just P2,978,000. Yep, that’s right. It’s P350,000 more “inexpensive” than its more opulent alter ego.

Now, that’s a lot of money being slashed from the IS300h Premier’s price tag, but that doesn’t mean the regular IS300h is budget fare. You still get the same source of hybrid propulsion,(2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and electric motor), safety standards (antilock brakes, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, traction control, and parking assist monitor), 10-speaker infotainment system (including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), and creature comforts (power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, paddle shifters, voice recognition, multi-information TFT display, and front eight-way power-adjustable seats). Finally, you get 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/45 tires.

The pedestrian (if you can call it that) IS300h is being offered in seven exterior colors: Sonic Titanium, Sonic Iridium, Sonic Chrome, Sonic Quartz, Red Mica Crystal Shine, Graphite Black Glass Flake, and Heat Blue Contrast Layering. Take your pick.

Well, choosing the car’s paint job is a whole lot easier if the amount you’ll shell out is significantly lower, right? Bring the wife with you to the showroom if you need more validation for your decision-making.
