What makes the Maxus G50 stand out in a sea of affordable MPVs?

One reason is the suggested retail price

AC Motors, official distributor of Maxus vehicles in the Philippines, is ready to go toe-to-toe with the highly competitive and in-demand MPV segment in the local car market. The multi-purpose vehicle has been a staple in many Filipino families and Maxus Philippines steps in with its most handsome contender to date.

Officially unveiled in Maxus Philippines’ first virtual launch, the G50 is a stunning family mover with 3 variants to choose from: the Pro (P1,088,000), Elite (P1,168,000) and Premium (P1,288,000). With the current crop of MPVs available locally, we decided to showcase some of the standout features that make G50 an attractive and sensible product.

Power. The G50 is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine pushing 167hp and 250Nm of torque mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. In its class, those numbers are very respectable and should make the vehicle fun to drive out on the open road. When asked about the absence of a diesel engine, Reggie See, Maxus Philippines general manager, explained that this powertrain is standard across all three variants. As the in-line-four motor already delivers ample punch and fuel efficiency, there is no need for a diesel powerplant.

Looks. At first glance, the G50 immediately captures you with its strong road presence. The front grille has tasteful chrome or matte black accents, depending on the variant. Flanked by sharp-looking headlamp assemblies and daytime running lights, the front fascia creates a distinct and upscale look for the G50. That theme carries on through its sleek contours and lines along the sides, ending nicely with a beautifully sculpted tail end. Gorgeous 17-inch alloy wheels (16-inch for the Pro variant) add a premium touch to the overall look. To add spice to the G50, it comes in seven exterior colors, with Roland Purple as the coolest finish in the bunch.

Interior. The G50 is a compact MPV built to transport eight occupants comfortably. While other offerings in this price range max out with a total occupancy of seven, the G50 serves up an additional seat. That capacity is combined with an aesthetically pleasing interior motif with two-tone leatherette (Elite and Premium) or fabric seats (Pro).

Features. To keep up with the demand for convenience along with passenger amenities and safety features, the G50 delivers an array of desirable specs. All vehicles come with touchscreen infotainment systems with USB and Bluetooth connectivity. The Premium variant also has a wireless charging dock for your mobile devices. Elite and Premium models come with front and rear parking sensors along with a 360° camera. Additional goodies for the Premium variant include a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, and power-adjustable seats for the driver and front passenger. Standard across the range are the following: front and rear disc brakes, electronic power steering, multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, keyless entry with push start, front and rear air-conditioning, electronic parking brake, auto brake hold, driver and passenger front airbags, three-point seatbelts for front and rear, Isofix tethers, stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system. For added safety, front side airbags come exclusive with the Premium G50.

Value. Indeed, the G50 is jam-packed with features that would complement the new normal of family mobility. It is a stylish and practical compact MPV attractively priced like a subcompact people carrier. To top it off, all three variants come with a five-year (or 100,000km) warranty along with 24/7 emergency roadside assistance.

With all things considered, the G50 provides compelling value. The next best thing to do is experience it for yourself at a Maxus dealer near you.
