A chronograph to make you look like a Formula 1 driver

The Bell & Ross BR V2-94 R.S.18 wears Renault Sport colors

Since cars and watches make a natural connection, it’s only fitting that timepieces have a prominent presence in Formula 1. Watchmakers have been known to sponsor F1 teams, which means the sport’s drivers get to wear nice (and free) pieces. We still can’t get over the thought that Lewis Hamilton likely has unlimited access to basically any IWC model he fancies.

One watch company on the F1 grid is Bell & Ross, which has partnered with the Renault Sport team. As a sponsor, the Swiss horological brand gets to produce special models in the team’s yellow-and-black colors, and then put them on the wrists of drivers Carlos Sainz Jr. and Nico Hulkenberg. Like this BR V2-94 R.S.18, which is limited to just 999 pieces.

Steel bracelet or calfskin strap? Either one is good. PHOTO FROM BELL & ROSS

The chronograph is powered by Bell & Ross’s BR-CAL.301 automatic movement, which is housed inside a 41mm satin-polished steel case that is topped by ultra-curved sapphire glass. The watch, which pays tribute to Renault Sport’s R.S.18 car, boasts a carbon-fiber dial with SuperLuminova numerals. Water-resistant to 100m, timepiece looks good either with a steel bracelet or a calfskin strap.

You’ll never know what it’s like to live the life of an F1 driver. But you can at least look the part—if you have €4,900 (P304,000) to spare, that is. Pricey but able to make you look just a little bit more handsome. Enough incentive for many rich guys to willingly part with their money.
