If you imagine that employees of car companies enjoy special pricing when they purchase one of their brand’s vehicles, you’re correct. Most automakers extend to their workers what is called in the industry as “employee pricing,” or what amounts to a substantial discount. In the US, Ford often uses this term as a marketing come-on when dropping the prices of its products. I should know: My father bought his Mustang in 2009 with exactly this sales promo.

Now, Ford Philippines wants to apply this same sales bait in our market by offering all variants of the Everest midsize SUV with “an industry-first pricing scheme that extends the exclusivity of employee pricing for vehicles to regular customers, giving them the biggest savings when purchasing a Ford Everest.”

The offer is good for the whole month of October, and applies to the Everest’s Titanium, Trend and Ambiente variants. According to a press statement sent by Ford, the discounts range from P101,000 to P153,000.

And in a bit of weird news, the high-ranking Ford Philippines official who is quoted in the press release—“The employee-pricing offer is yet another groundbreaking innovation from Ford as we continue to expand ownership of Ford vehicles around the country by giving customers the best deals”—has apparently resigned.

Sources from within the company’s dealership network have informed me that Ford Philippines marketing and sales vice president Rodel Gallega is unexpectedly leaving his post. Which means he’ll lose his employee-pricing benefit. Oh well.
