Yesterday, the Department of Transportation encouraged private businesses to rent or lease dormant public-utility vehicles (mostly buses, but also jeepneys and UV Express vans) in order to help their carless employees report for work during the two-week Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board is even allowing said shuttle vehicles to operate without any special permit this time around—all the drivers have to show is a certificate or authorization letter issued by the company that’s leasing the PUV.
We just had one question yesterday that neither DOTr nor LTFRB could answer: How do interested business owners contact the operators of the PUVs?
Thankfully, DOTr today sent a list of both Metro Manila and provincial bus operators that are willing to rent out their vehicles. Share this with anyone you know might require transportation for their business.
