As you know, the 30th Southeast Asian Games will be held in the Philippines from November 30 to December 11. The main hub of the sporting activities will be in Clark (Pampanga), while the secondary and tertiary hubs will be in Subic (Olongapo) and Metro Manila, respectively.
Now, imagine “an estimated 8,750 athletes and team officials, 2,050 technical officials, 1,500 press and media attendees and 12,000 volunteers” being transported from one venue to another, and it’s pretty much safe to assume that there will be motoring chaos all over the affected areas.
To help manage the situation, the authorities are doing their best to prepare for the big regional event, and one way of doing this is to conduct simulation exercises. Some of these exercises will be held on November 14 (Thursday), from 2pm to 4pm, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. This is to ensure that the 30th SEA Games’ opening ceremony on November 30 will be trouble-free and seamless.
“Convoys of vehicles will travel from various hotels and establishments within Metro Manila, Tagaytay, Clark and Subic to Philippine Arena, the venue of the opening ceremony of SEA Games 2019,” the agency said in its Facebook post. “Stop-and-go traffic scheme shall be implemented on identified roads.”
