Do not imitate this one-handed LaFerrari top-speed run

Even on a near-empty expressway, it is still very dangerous

Germany is famous for its autobahn, the mostly derestricted highway network that gives speed freaks the opportunity to drive their cars at the maximum speed. One wealthy thrill-seeker recently combined the absence of a speed limit with the current lack of traffic due to the pandemic, and went for what we can only call an impressively reckless high-speed run in his LaFerrari. Not only did he max out at an insane 372km/h, but he also did the whole run one-handed, as he was filming the stunt himself.

Here is his hair-raising drive:

While going pedal-to-the-metal in his 949hp supercar wasn’t illegal per se—the stretch of the autobahn he drove on, the A7 heading toward the city of Hanover, doesn’t have a speed limit—we can still see a couple of issues with this video. For starters, it’s evident that the driver filmed it himself, and doing this sort of speed one-handed, even on an almost empty highway, is simply totally nuts. Then there is the fact that going out for joyrides during this time of a coronavirus outbreak is strongly discouraged.

The pilot of this supercar would have a very hard time explaining to any passing cop why he had to go that fast on the way to the shop, so it’s safe to say this was an unnecessary journey. It seems he got away with it this time, but we unequivocally caution any driver against this kind of motoring behavior. Yes, even if it’s nice to see a car like that doing what it was built to do.
