Two lessons you can learn from this guy’s proposal to Nadine Lustre

One is that maybe it’s a bad idea to be dangling a car before her

Remember that guy who once proposed to Erich Gonzales by putting up a billboard that made known his romantic feelings? Yep, that guy. Well, Xian Gaza is back and viral again—this time for proposing to the recently single Nadine Lustre just in time for Valentine’s Day.

This time, however, his gesture is even grander: He’s throwing in a Ford Mustang. Apparently, he’s giving the car to the actress just for a chance to be her “acquaintance.”

“I believe that you deserve to be the first ever person in the Philippines to receive a ‘Bouquet of Mustang’ as a Valentine’s Day gift because that’s how high I value you as a woman,” he said in his now widely shared Facebook post.

Here are two lessons any lovestruck dude can learn from this:

1. Indeed, you don’t make the shots you don’t take. Say what you want about Xian, but his audacity when it comes to girls is incredible. Too many men will never find the courage to walk up to a woman they like just to introduce themselves. Xian, on the other hand, is even willing to make a fool of himself (because that’s exactly what he looks like right now) just to check the odds of him possibly dating Nadine. Those are lottery odds, for sure, but at least he gave it a try. Countless boys will grow old never knowing what could have happened if they had only mustered the guts to ask their TOTGA out.

2. Always make the most of that one shot. Nilakasan mo na rin lang ang loob mo, galingan mo na. Eminem asked: “Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted—in one moment—would you capture it, or just let it slip?” Our man Xian here, unfortunately, let it slip. Foisting a car on Nadine Lustre? Really? What result was he expecting to get? For Nadine to accept his invitation and essentially announce to the world that she’s for sale? He would have been better off offering her a box of Choc Nut. Fellas, if and when you get that one shot, make sure you don’t drop the ball.

Now go out there and go for it. You have a Valentine’s Day date to make.
