Electrification is the name of the game for Volkswagen, and the automaker has doubled down on its ID lineup with models like the ID.3 and the ID.4—the latter even getting a GTX high-performance version. With the introduction of the ID.6 X and the ID.6 Crozz, the German brand finally has an electric SUV to meet the demands of those looking to carry more.

The ID.6 three-row electric SUV has been made specifically for sale in China. The car will be manufactured by Volkswagen’s two joint ventures in the People’s Republic: the ID.6 X from SAIC Motor, and the ID.6 Crozz from FAW.

These two SUVs look nearly identical to each other, save for the minute differences in the front and the rear. Nineteen-inch alloy wheels come fitted as standard, with an option to upgrade to 21-inchers. Couple that with the youthful styling and the loud paint jobs on offer, and it’s easy to stand out with the ID.6.

Both ID.6 variations can come in six- or seven-seat versions, with a panoramic sunroof helping to make the tan interior feel a lot more spacious. The infotainment system will have optional Harman Kardon speakers, and comes with software specific to the Chinese market that can monitor data (such as air quality and pending traffic citations).

The ID.6 rides on a stretched version of the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, also in use by other ID models and the Audi Q4 e-Tron. Measuring 4,876mm long, 1,848mm wide and 1,680mm tall, the vehicle is said to be enough to comfortably accommodate three rows of seats.

Customers can choose from three variants with two different battery sizes. The base battery pack is rated at 58kWh, while a larger 77kWh pack is available as an optional extra. Potential driving ranges are 436km and 588km, respectively.

The single-motor powertrain has two power outputs: 177hp and 201hp. Both are good for a 100km/h sprint time of under 10 seconds. The dual-motor version has a significant power bump with 302hp, and hits the acceleration time to the century mark in just 6.6 seconds.

Excited for the ID.6 to make its way here? As previously mentioned, the car is meant for the Chinese market only. But considering the models that Volkswagen is currently selling in our territory, there is certainly a chance that the newest member of the ID family will reach the Philippines.
