If you’re into visual art, you’ve likely heard (and maybe even attended) Art Fair Philippines. The annual exhibit, founded in 2013, showcases “the best in modern and contemporary Philippine visual art.”

This year, Art Fair Philippines kicks off today (March 1) and runs until Sunday (March 4) at The Link in Ayala Center in Makati City. Why are we sharing this with you?

Well, the 2018 edition of the art exhibit features four works commissioned by AC Automotive, the car business arm of Ayala Corporation. AC Automotive owns the local distributors for Volkswagen and KTM, as well as dealerships for Honda and Isuzu.

The four artists responsible for the art pieces are Reg Yuson for Honda, Pete Jimenez for KTM, Art Lozano for Volkswagen, and Dan Raralio for Isuzu.

Cultural Center of the Philippines 13 Artists Awards recipient (2003) Reg Yuson created Fear Or Desire using a Honda Civic’s hood, grille, fenders and wheels to depict a life-size scale-model kit.

Prolific artist Pete Jimenez—16 solo exhibitions since 2000—made Racing Heart with a KTM motorcycle frame, fashioned into the shape of a human heart.

Finally, painter-sculptor Dan Raralio—himself a CCP 13 Artists Awards honoree (1988)—came up with Abstract Out Of Concrete, which is basically Isuzu truck parts lodged in concrete blocks.

The four artists are joined by KTM Asia Motorcycle Manufacturing president and COO Dino Santos, Honda Cars Makati and Isuzu Automotive Dealership president and COO Manny Aligada, and AC Industrials president and CEO Arthur Tan. PHOTO FROM AC AUTOMOTIVE

Viewing schedules for the exhibit are:

  • 10:00am to 1:30pm;
  • 2:00pm to 5:00pm; and
  • 5:30pm to 9:00pm.

Entrance fee is pegged at P350 per head. If you’re a student, just show a valid ID and you get admitted for only P150—better if you’re a Makati student, because you get in for just P100.

Again, Art Fair Philippines 2018 is being held this weekend. You have until Sunday to drop by.
