Lamborghini loves to tease the public when it comes to the release of a new model, knowing that fans of the fast cars from Sant’Agata Bolognese will lap up every second of footage that is released onto the Internet. When we say seconds, we mean that quite literally this time, as the company’s latest teaser video contains but a mere glimpse of the newest Raging Bull that’s about to be unleashed. The model in question is the new Huracán Performante Spyder, and you can get a very, very short look at it via this YouTube clip (the official reveal will take place at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show).
The standard Performante features a sharpened-up 5.2-liter V10 that drives this angry animal forward with 640hp and 600Nm, and the same piece of heavy Italian jewelry can also be expected to take center stage in the topless version. This most likely means that wealthy roadster aficionados will be able to catapult themselves from zero to 100km/h in around three seconds, and then see any remaining hair leave their head when the Spyder thunders across the 300km/h barrier.
To prove that the car is quick, Lamborghini had it set a number of new records at eight lesser-known European racetracks, including Boxberg in Germany and Vairano in Italy. But one famous circuit is currently missing from the trophy cabinet. The record for fastest production car around the Nurburgring Nordschleife is currently held by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Will the latest Lambo spring some surprises and be able to reclaim the crown, or are the Italians happy to sit in second place? Place your bets.
